Leiden

Leiden is a super cute place in The Netherlands that reminds me lot of Amsterdam, with all the cute little canals and boats making their appearances. The city is cute to take a lovely strolls, with beautifully built houses, and has a nice arty and ancient vibe. Did you know that world famous painter Rembrandt was born in Leiden?

(VEGAN) HOTSPOTS

ALOHA

Address: Steenstraat 22, 2312 BW Leiden, NL

I can’t deny that we pick out our food hotspots based on the name. Aloha sure fits the criteria and it definitely lived up to its name and our expectations. Most things on the menu are vegan, and a few vegetarian.

I had the California Falafel Pita, which was absolutely yummy and filling, while Mo had the Vegan Shawarma Pita, which he also enjoyed a lot.

We also had a side of sweet potato fries, that were perfect to go with the rest of this yummy meal. We had some drinks outside on the terrace, and went in for the food. Lovely location, and great food!

EXPLORE

HORTUS BOTANICUS LEIDEN

Address: Rapenburg 73, 2311 GJ Leiden, NL

This botanic garden is the oldest one in The Netherlands. I have visited many botanical gardens around the world, and this one is no where near any of the other ones, definitely not my favorite, however still worth a visit. There are many many plants and trees from all over the world, that you can see up close.

Although I have to say that in my opinion most of this ‘park’ wasn’t very well curated and taken care of, the green house in the back is definitely worth visiting.

I recommend going during the warmer days, so that you can enjoy a stroll around the property and maybe even bring a lunch to have a lovely picked near the waters on the property. You can observe the stars here as well, but to do a tour you have to purchase another ticket inside.
