Cacao Ceremony

Cacao Ceremonies in Maastricht

What is Cacao and why is it used in ceremonies?

Cacao has heart opening and softening qualities. This ancient sacred gift known as cacao is often used in ceremonies, and can bring us so much healing. Especially when done in a safe space, paired with other healing practices. It has been used for thousands of years by the Maya in the south of America.

Why is Cacao sacred?

The active ingredient in cacao is called theobromine, which can be translated to Food of the Gods. That is where it gets its sacred status, and why it is often used in ceremonies. The word cacao comes from the Maya word ka'kau. Another important Mayan word to note is chokola'j, which means to drink together.

What are the benefits of this sacred Cacao?

Cacao is seen as a medicinal plant with many benefits. It helps to heal the mental, physical, and spiritual body. It is rich in vitamins and minerals, and is great for the heart. It encourages deep meditation, as it strengthens the awareness and focus. It is a natural antidepressant, and boosts the mood, while stimulating a feeling of bliss. It gives great energy, balances the sugar levels, and generates more blood flow to the brain.

What to expect from our Cacao Ceremony..

During our Cacao Ceremonies we get into many heart opening and healing practices, like gentle Restorative/Yin Yoga, journaling, meditating, chanting, oracle card pulls, and a special sharing circle for those who would like to share anything that comes up. All this is guided by experienced teacher(s). You will receive the ceremonial cacao intentionally, together with a carefully created treat.

How the Sacred Cacao is prepared..

During our Cacao Ceremonies we use a high quality raw, organic cacao from Peru. You will receive a ceremonial dose of cacao that is freshly prepared, with the highest quality ingredients. It is fully vegan and cruelty free. We add a carefully selected amount of spices for extra benefits, like overall richness in vitamins, minerals, great for the heart, a healthy gut, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.

Can everyone join a Cacao Ceremony?

If you are allergic to cacao, or if you are taking any antidepressant like SSRIs, a cup of cacao is not recommended. However, you can still attend our ceremonies. We will brew you a delicious heart opening and warming tea, a special love blend, using the same spices we use in the cacao, keeping in mind your allergies. Please make sure to reach out to us ahead of time to request this!
